The Information Systems Technology program is a rigorous three year course that prepares students for various entry level positions  in field of Information Technology as well as providing a foundation for post secondary studies.  The three year curriculum is divided into the following levels and courses.

First year students are introduced to the essential hardware and software competencies for an entry-level PC service technician. Students demonstrate basic knowledge of installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting, and repairing microcomputer systems and operating systems. This course focuses on the MCDST exam objectives.

Second year students are given a broad-based foundation in the design and administration of computer network systems and introduced to the fundamental principles of networks and their operation from a vendor neutral perspective. Emphasis is on PC/network hardware and operating systems, architecture, protocols, and design and security.  This course focuses on the CompTIA Network+ exam objectives.

Third year students are introduced to the concepts of wide area networks, advanced router configurations, switched networks, VLANS, and simple vendor-specific network management protocols. Presentation and communication skills needed by a network engineer also will be emphasized.  This course focuses on the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) exam objectives.

Computer Technologies students also receive hands-on experience in troubleshooting and customer support by operating the FCCTC helpdesk. Students also have the opportunity to participate in self-study elective courses such as Programming, Game Programming and Design, or Computer Forensics.

Students graduating from Computer Tech can work as Desktop Support, Field, Network Service,  System Support, and WAN Technicians  as well as  PC Support Specialists. Students pursuing post secondary opportunities can earn college credits through articulation agreements and College in the High School.
